euclid’s coloring book, volume one

Unfolding across nine panels made of a common construction material and what might be spackle and blue painter’s tape, Euclid’s Coloring Book carries the optimism of a renovation reaching completion.

Although these works are governed by strict geometric rules rendered with the discipline of an architectural draftsman, the compositions unexpectedly give rise to a universe of images that playfully come in and out of focus.

Walking past them some have encountered a parrot, an umbrella, a rollercoaster, a butterfly, or a sunset. Others have spotted a snail, a boardgame (no rules), a boat, a lamp, a mask, a tree, a balloon, a mirror, a ladder, waves, and wind. There are also flowers.
